Finnegan is our baby kitten - probably about 11 weeks or so now. He is a Maine Coon and the mane around his neck is just starting to fill in. The tufties between his toes are beginning to grow longer as are the tufties on his ears. SOOOO cute. He has in the last month or so completely become the ruler of the house. When baby is hungry, baby gets specially formulated kitten food, grain-free (if you please!) with all the important omega fatty jig-a-ma-bobs that his daddy thinks are most important for a happy, healthy, growing little boy. Jazzy, the Golden Retriever adores Finnegan. Baby kitty is often seen with a very wet head due to a recent bath from Jazzy. The other cats have decided he is okay, in a sort of disdainful, cattish way. At least Ned enjoys a good romp with the baby. Finally Louie can get relief from Ned's constant need for a tussle. No explanation necessary on how Finnegan has charmed his mommy.
Anyway, this little boy is a fast learner. I am certain it is because he is the most intelligent cat ever, but also, it could be because he has the big boys to watch and learn all the special kitty tricks faster. So, when it came time to do the T-shirt quilt from the depths of hell, Louie and Ned were their normal helpful selves - helping to hold down pieces of t-shirt while I am attempting to cut around their paws in a creative way, as well as the general jumping in the middle of the pieces being sewn together. But this was a completely new experience for a curious, extra-energetic little bundle of fur. Finnegan was much involved in the design process - a.k.a. arranging different pieces for me by , skidding on t-shirts across the floor, adding superfluous kitten fur to the t-shirts etc. Also, I wrote in my post his attaching himself to the batting with his claws and rolling up his little body in the batting. What help!
Yesterday I woke up to almost tripping over some thread from a spool that had been literally "spun" all over and around the living room floor around chair legs, table legs, zigzagging between them as well as an impressive trail across the living room. It was as if Finnegan had been concocting a trap for some unsuspecting mousie, but instead he caught his mommy.
At the end of all kitten rompings, a nap is required. As you can see in the picture below, where else should a tired kitten take a nap? On the quilt momma is pinning of course!
Seriously. This cat has found heaven.
